How do I add a column to the Gradebook for assignments submitted in class?
This video shows a quick way to use Assignments to set up Canvas Gradebook columns for a face-to-face course where assignments are submitted in class.
You can edit any of the assignments by clicking the name of the assignment and editing it if you want students to submit assignments through Canvas rather than in class.

The grades total isn't correct. How can I fix this?
The gradebook needs a zero score for each missing assignment. You can enter the zero scores manually or you can set up Canvas to do it automatically after the assignment due date. Here's how:
- Go to Grades
- Click on Settings (gear icon in upper right)
- Check Automatically apply grade for missing submissions
- Enter 0 in the Grade percentage for missing submissions box.

How can I Override the final grade?
The Final Grade Override feature adds a new column in your Gradebook that allows you to enter a final grade for students that is different from the grade automatically calculated by Canvas.
To enable this feature in your course, go to Settings > Feature Options tab. Click the slider next to Final Grade Override to turn it on (green is on).

How can I change the Total to show up as points or percentages?
When you click the options next to the Total column you can switch from points to percentages (or visa versa). If you don't see the option for points it's because you set weighted grades on the Assignments page.
