Change Notification Settings to Control Email

You and your students can adjust how you are notified by Canvas.  For example, you may not want an email for every discussion posting.

To change notification settings, click Account and then Notifications.  Adjust the settings as you wish. 

Teachers will probably want to check Notify Me Right Away for these: 

• Announcement
• Grading
• Invitation
• Submission Comment
• Conversation Messages (Inbox)
• all the Scheduling items

 

Optional text messages

If you'd like text message notifications, use your account settings to add a mobile phone number:

1. In the Global Navigation, click Account and then Settings.
2. Look for Ways to Contact (right sidebar or bottom of page) and click +Contact Method to add a mobile phone number.
3. Go back to Account Notifications to set when you would like SMS notifications (text messages).
