Make Sure Pages & Documents Are Accessible
Our college and district websites are required to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act to ensure that all of our students have access to the material and to comply with the law.
Canvas, Microsoft, and Adobe Acrobat have accessibility checkers that will examine your documents and tell you how to fix any accessibility issues. See the Accessibility module in this course for more information.
Check Accessibility on a Canvas Page
Use the built in Canvas accessibility tool - Click the Check Accessibility
Links to an external site. icon -- -- on any Canvas page to find accessibility issues and learn how to correct them.
Use Ally on Canvas pages and through the Accessibility Report under course navigation - Ally - Integrated Accessibility for Students and Teachers
Check the accessibility of a PowerPoint presentation
- Click the Review tab
- Click Check Accessibility to learn of any issues.
Check the accessibility of a Word document
- click on “File,” then “Info.”
- Click on “Check for Issues” beside “Inspect Document.”
- Click on “Check Accessibility” to learn of any issues.
Check accessibility of a PDF document
- Open the PDF using Adobe Acrobat Pro, and click on “Tools.”
- You’ll see an Action that says “Make Accessible” and click through the steps.
