Name Changes

Faculty and students may wish to change their Canvas Display Name.  This name shows up in Discussions, Announcements and Conversations.  Grades and People will still show the legal name.

Refer students to the Name Change form Links to an external site. to change their Canvas Display Name.

Refer students to Admissions and Records Links to an external site. to change the legal name.

Transgender students may not be able to change their legal name for a variety of reasons, so changing the display name is a respectful way to support them.  Consider hiding the People page from the Course Navigation Links to an external site. if you have transgender students.
