Being Successful in this Course

Success requires work. Your work should be productive. You will need to solve simple math problems and understand technical definitions to be successful in this course. These equations and definitions help us to build models to explain and predict economic conditions.

Understanding the context of the macroeconomy will require a good amount of effort to become familiar with the language of the economics' profession and how that language applies to our current, past, and future economic conditions.  You will also need to be able to read graphs and understand how those graphs represent certain assumptions about how the economy works.

You will need to read your material carefully. You may be able to better read each chapter if you read the questions at the end of each chapter before you read the chapter. This effort will focus your energies on what economists think you should gather from the chapter.

The course syllabus (see "Syllabus" in the left menu) contains important information about class procedures, due dates, grading policies, etc. It's a guideline for what you can expect of me and what I expect of you throughout the term.

Time Commitment

Time to complete each module will vary from individual to individual. Your goal is to be familiar enough with the material that you will be able to pick the right answer to questions from two to four possible answers. Smart and hard work is the only way to gain this familiarity.
