Overview
The purpose of this assignment is to help you memorize the Common Elements and their Symbols that were listed on the previous page.
Study them first, then return to this Common Elements Flashcards assignment to practice. This assignment is "Ungraded", so you can practice over and over again until you master the elements.
You will need to know name to formula, and formula back to name, including spelling. This is intended to be done as preparation for Quizzes and Exams, starting immediately with Quiz 1.
Instructions
"Common Elements Flashcards" is an "Ungraded" assignment, but it helps you study "Common Elements and Their Symbols".
Remember that if a symbol is two letters, like Zn for Zinc, the first letter is capitalized and the second letter is lowercase. This is important because, for example, CO with both letters capitalized is carbon monoxide (carbon and oxygen), which is a completely different thing than Co which is cobalt. I don't think that this program distinguishes between capital and lowercase, so I believe it will count them both correct, but for the quizzes and exams, you will need to have 1st letter capitalized and 2nd letter lowercase for elements.
