How to Add an LTI to a Course
Instructors have the ability to add an LTI to a course or to request an LTI be added at the department, college, or district level.
Add an LTI to a Course
Before installing any LTI, you will need to contact the vendor about the LTI you want to install and make sure it can be installed at the course level. Also, the vendor should supply you with two pieces of information - a Consumer Key and a Shared Secret. You will need these when you install the LTI. Two examples of LTI's that can be installed at the course level are Flip Grid and Google Docs. Google Assignments is an example that does not work well with our school.
If you have issues with the installation or configuring and using the LTI at the course level, you will need to contact the vendor.
- Go to your course, click on Settings, Apps. Then search for the LTI.
- Click once on the LTI.
- Click on the “Add App” button for the LTI. Enter in the Consumer Key and Shared Secret.
- Follow the prompts to configure the LTI.
Requesting an LTI
If an LTI must be installed at the department, college, or district level, please submit an LTI request form Links to an external site.. This form can also be found by going to any page of our website. Links to an external site. and clicking on Canvas in the upper right. Then click on “Canvas Request Forms” on the left menu. You will be asked to login with your GCCCD network credentials. Your username is probably first.last (without @gcccd.edu) and your password is the same as your network/email password. (It might be prudent to discuss new LTI's with your department first).
