This quiz consists of two, short essays (no more than 500 words each), in which you are prompted to work closely and critically with in the with previous units in this module. Please do not begin the quiz until you have spent a significant amount of time on the material presented in the units. There is no time limit on this exam, but going straight to the exam without having studied the units has in the past resulted in several students not doing as well as they would have liked last semester. Of course you can refer to the units as you work on your essays, but the more prepared you are beforehand, the better your essays will be.  For these types of short essay exams, fully developed introductions and conclusions are not required--1-3 sentences can suffice.

VITAL Tips and Review

  • Please know that you cannot open the quiz, close it, and then come back to finish it. I cannot reopen the quiz for anyone, so when you sit down to start, give yourself plenty of time.
  • Students from last semester averaged 3-5 hours on the two short essays.
  • Be sure your short essays are original, as I run them through Vericite.
  • Hints on the questions are dropped throughout the module.
  • Review how to introduce sources, write a summary, and how to smoothly integrate direct quotes, and  MLA in-text citation before you begin.
  • A Works Cited page is required for Carmona, Lacewing, and the X Files Episode, so you can look them up and have them ready to cut and paste beforebefore you start.
