What background do I need?

This course assumes prior knowledge of basic accessibility principles; however, there are opportunities for review.  Microsoft Word familiarity is not needed. It is helpful to be familiar with Canvas. If you need additional Canvas support, please see the various Canvas Guides and Canvas Helpline.

Do I need to buy a textbook/course materials?

All lecture and most activities are published in this Canvas micro-course. However, you will need access to Microsoft Word. Please check with your school or get Online Microsoft Word/Office 365 for free as an educator. Office 365 Education includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote. Office 365 Education features Microsoft Word Online.

Microsoft Word Online is a distinct version of Word provided as part of Office 365. It works inside your internet browser and does not install onto your computer. Because of this, it won't matter if you're using a Mac or a Windows machine for this course. There are some limitations for some parts of the course, and will be noted.

Alternatively, if you would like to purchase Office 365 Education at a discounted rate, visit CollegeBuys.org for exclusive savings on software and more for California Community Colleges.

This micro-course will cover proper color contrast. If color contrast is a new concept and you plan to take advantage of the activities in this course, it is recommended that you download the free Paciello Colour Contrast Analyzer.
